FireFlex 1230: When Should You Use a Clean Agent System Instead of Sprinklers?

FireFlex 1230 is a clean agent fire suppression system used where water damage is unacceptable, such as telecommunication rooms, server rooms, control rooms, archives, museums, laboratories, and emergency generator rooms. It uses SEVO™ FFT-1230™ (FK-5-1-12), a clean extinguishing agent for Class A, B, and C fires, stored as a pressurized liquid that vaporizes on discharge, is odorless, electrically non-conductive, and leaves no residue. The system is factory-assembled in a cabinet and designed per NFPA 2001, with typical volumetric concentration of 4% to 6%, not exceeding 10%, zero ozone depletion potential, atmospheric lifetime of 0.014 year, global warming potential of 1, FM Approval, and UL/ULC Listing. Cabinets are 14-gauge steel, and nozzle options include 180° and 360° models with standard sizes of 1/2", 1", 1-1/2", 2", and 2-1/2". FireFlex 1230 is available as self-contained (with integrated control arrangement) or remote-controlled (without integrated panel, for use with another listed panel). Effective application requires confirming room volume, enclosure tightness, nozzle layout, agent storage capacity, detection and release sequence, and required shutdowns and interlocks. It is intended for Class A, B, and C fires and does not replace the entire building sprinkler system but protects specific hazards or rooms.
