FireFlex Pressure Adjustment and Skid Air Supply Options

The FireFlex adjustment pressure option should match the project water supply conditions, with 175 PSI used for standard pressure applications up to 175 PSI and 250 PSI used for higher pressure conditions where the selected configuration supports 250 PSI service. Skid air supply options indicate whether a skid-mounted unit uses no external air source or relies on external air for sprinkler piping supervision and filling. External air is typically selected when the skid does not include the required on-board air arrangement or when plant air, a remote compressor, or another approved external source is part of the system design. Before ordering, the pressure setting should be confirmed against the actual water supply pressure, and the air supply method should be coordinated with the mechanical and fire alarm design teams.

Adjustment pressure: 175 PSI

Meaning: The system is set up for standard pressure conditions up to 175 PSI.

Choose 175 PSI when:

  • The water supply pressure does not exceed 175 PSI
  • The selected system type is designed for standard pressure settings
  • There is no project requirement for high-pressure adjustment

Adjustment pressure: 250 PSI

Meaning: The system is set up for higher pressure conditions up to 250 PSI, where supported by the selected configuration.

Choose 250 PSI when:

  • Water supply pressure is above 175 PSI
  • The selected configuration supports 250 PSI service
  • The design documents call for high-pressure trim or settings

Skid air supply options

For skid-mounted units, the selector may offer:

  • None
  • External air for Preac, Surefire, Fill, Dry

Meaning: This indicates whether the skid will rely on an external source of air for sprinkler piping supervision and filling.

Choose external air when:

  • The skid does not include the needed on-board air supply arrangement
  • The project uses plant air, a remote compressor, or another approved external source
  • System volume or water pressure requires an external air solution
