FireFlex semi-flanged inlets and outlets: What do left/right inlet and drain options mean?
The semi-flanged option provides flanged fittings on the water inlet and the system riser outlet, while the drain manifold remains threaded. The side of the water inlet and the side of the drain must be specified.
What the side choices mean
- IN left, Drain left: water inlet enters from left side, drain exits left side
- IN left, Drain right: water inlet left, drain right
- IN right, Drain left: water inlet right, drain left
- IN right, Drain right: water inlet right, drain right
When to choose this option
Choose semi-flanged when:
- The field piping layout is easier with flanged connections
- The mechanical room layout favors one side for supply and the other for drain
- You want easier alignment with existing site piping
How to choose the correct side arrangement
Pick the side arrangement that minimizes:
- field offsets
- extra elbows
- pipe crossing in front of the unit
- installation labor
Best practice
Choose the side arrangement only after reviewing:
- room layout
- wall penetrations
- drain routing
- supply entry point
- access for maintenance
