FireFlex System Options: Galvanized, Anti-Column Device, OSHPD Seismic, and NYFD

The FireFlex galvanized main and riser option provides galvanized inlet and riser components for projects where corrosion resistance or specification requirements call for galvanized construction. The anti-column device helps prevent unwanted water column formation within supported preaction systems, including downstream of the riser check valve. The OSHPD seismic option provides pre-approved construction using specific components for projects that require OSHPD seismic compliance, while the NYFD option supports applicable New York City or AHJ requirements on permitted system configurations.

Galvanized main & riser option

Meaning: The main inlet and riser components are provided in galvanized construction.

Choose it when:

  • The specification calls for galvanized piping components
  • Corrosion resistance is a priority
  • The project standard requires galvanized inlet/riser assemblies

Anti-column device

Meaning: FireFlex documentation states this device automatically prevents an unwanted water column from establishing within the system riser. On preaction systems, it helps prevent water from columning downstream of the riser check valve.

Choose it when:

  • The selected preaction configuration supports it
  • The design team wants added control against unwanted water column formation
  • The project standard includes anti-column protection

OSHPD seismic option

Meaning: This option provides pre-approved construction using specific components for projects requiring OSHPD seismic compliance.

Choose it when:

  • The project is subject to OSHPD seismic requirements
  • The building type or jurisdiction requires that approval path
  • Seismic bracing and approved construction details are part of the project basis

NYFD option

Meaning: This is a New York City Fire Department-related configuration option, typically used to satisfy project-specific local requirements. In the selector it is identified as applying to systems without panel.
