Choosing the right FireFlex system starts with understanding the hazard and the environment. Wet pipe is best for heated buildings, dry pipe for freezing spaces, preaction for water-sensitive areas, and deluge for high-hazard applications needing full-area discharge. FireFlex also offers options like TOTALPAC® N2 for corrosion control and TOTALPAC®X for outdoor or harsh environments, helping customers match the right integrated system to the real risk.

If you are choosing a FireFlex system, start with the basic meaning of the four main system types:

  • Wet pipe: piping stays filled with water. Choose it for heated buildings where freezing is not a risk. This is usually the simplest and lowest-maintenance option.
  • Dry pipe: piping contains air or nitrogen until a sprinkler opens. Choose it for unheated or freezing spaces such as parking garages, loading docks, and cold environments.
  • Preaction: combines detection with sprinkler protection. Choose it when accidental water discharge would be costly, such as data rooms, museums, archives, or telecommunications spaces.
  • Deluge: open nozzles discharge water over the entire hazard area once detection activates the system. Choose it for high-hazard applications such as aircraft hangars, transformers, chemical plants, and conveyor hazards.
