What Is FIREFLEX® VACTEC® and When Should You Choose Vacuum Technology?
FIREFLEX® VACTEC® is a dry pipe or preaction sprinkler system that uses vacuum pressure inside the piping instead of relying only on pressurized air or nitrogen.
FIREFLEX® VACTEC® is a vacuum-based fire protection system. Instead of supervising the piping with only air or nitrogen pressure, it uses negative pressure created by a vacuum pump.
You should choose VACTEC when you need dry pipe or preaction protection in freezing areas and want a different approach to system supervision and operation. It is often considered for facilities where water delivery time, supervision strategy, or specific project requirements make vacuum technology attractive.
The main options mean:
- Vacuum dry pipe: choose this for freezing areas where a dry system is needed.
- Vacuum single interlock preaction: choose this when detection should fill the piping before sprinkler discharge.
- Vacuum double interlock preaction: choose this when you want the extra safeguard of two fire conditions before valve release.
- Fail-safe versions: choose these when the design requires a release strategy that moves the system to its safe state under loss-of-control conditions.
Its added value is application flexibility in cold environments, plus a factory-assembled package with integrated controls. If your project specifically calls for vacuum technology, or standard dry pipe is not the preferred design path, VACTEC is the FireFlex platform built for that purpose.
